Former Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz is set to attend the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Strategy Conference in Cabo Verde, just days after bringing his tenure with the Black Stars to an end.

The 73-year-old Portuguese tactician mutually terminated his contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in October following Ghana’s campaign at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

His departure brought an end to a period in which he guided the national team through one of its strongest World Cup performances in recent years.

Under Queiroz, Ghana progressed to the knockout stage of the World Cup for the first time since 2010. The Black Stars recorded a victory over Panama, drew with England and suffered defeat to Croatia during the group stage, results that were enough to secure qualification to the next round.

The 2026 tournament also marked Queiroz’s fifth appearance at a FIFA World Cup as a head coach, placing him among a select group of managers to have achieved that feat. His extensive international experience is expected to make him an important contributor at the upcoming CAF conference.

The strategy meeting in Cabo Verde will bring together coaches, administrators and other key football stakeholders to review lessons from the 2026 World Cup and discuss how African football can position itself more competitively ahead of the 2030 tournament.

Queiroz is expected to share his experience from managing Ghana at the global showpiece, including observations on tactical development, player preparation and the broader challenges facing African national teams.

Although his time with the Black Stars has ended, his participation in the CAF conference suggests he will remain involved in discussions aimed at shaping the future of African football. The meeting is expected to focus on strengthening technical development, improving competition structures and enhancing Africa’s chances of making a deeper impact at future World Cups.
